Paige Barnett

Paige has been with us since 2018, and has shown an incredible commitment to her health and fitness. She’s a regular at our 8:30a class and always brings a positive attitude and willingness to attack new challenges all the time. Over the years she has developed a proficiency in high skill movements and gained a substantial amount of strength. Paige has been a fantastic coachable individual, taking advice and applying it to perfect the task at hand. We have enjoyed having Paige work with us over the last three years and look forward to progress in store for her!

How did you discover The FieldHouse? And how long have you been a member?

I started when it was The Combine about 3 years ago.  I had always wanted to try CrossFit, once I did I was immediately hooked.

What is your exercise history or athletic background?

I have always been into sports and working out but never stuck with anything longer than a year.   I would get bored.   That’s what I love about Crossfit, I kinda feel like I am a kid working on something fun and new.   I see it as “I get to go play on the rope!”  instead of “I have to climb that rope 5 times”

What have classes and your personal workouts at The FieldHouse done for you personally? Physically?

I have never seen physical results like I have since being at the Fieldhouse.   Originally my goal was I just wanted to look like I work out regularly.  Now it’s changed into I want to get to certain PR’s or accomplish different skills, It’s become exciting to work out again.  Like I’m sure many people, I used to dread going to workout, not because I didn’t want to work out but because it wasn’t fun.   At the Fieldhouse I look forward to the classes and the chance to get better at certain skills.

Who/what inspires/motivates you or why do you work out?

Physical health aside, working out keeps me sane.  It’s the one thing I do just for me that isn’t related to work.   I love that it’s a time that I get to forget about everything else happening in life and focus on what I am doing right in the moment.

 

What fitness accomplishment are you most proud of? Have you hit any recent PR’s or achieved any other goal(s) in or outside of your workouts here?  Any future goals?

Pull ups and handstand push ups!   I wasn’t even close to being able to do these moves when I started.   Now they are some of my favorites because it reminds me how much stronger I have gotten.   Next I want to master handstand walks and muscle ups.

 

When you are not working out, how do you spend your free time?

When I am not at the gym I am usually working, I train horses for a living so that alone is very physical.   The  stronger you are in general the better you will be at riding, so CrossFit definitely compliments my job.   Otherwise I love being on the water or exploring new hiking spots in Austin.
